Tree planting today after Mass! The Fifth Sunday after Easter Commonly Called Rogation Sunday May 13, 2007 A. D. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!!! This morning we give great thanks to God for our mothers and the sacrifices they made to raise us. Every day should be thought of as Mother’s Day as God commands us to honor our father and mother– thus a life-long calling for each of us. This morning a flower is being given to mothers and all women of the parish in gratitude.
ASCENSION DAY MASS, THURSDAY, 6:30 pm Just a reminder that the Easter season concludes on Ascension Day, the 40th day of Easter, and will be commemoratedwith a 6:30 pm Mass. A “Prayer Book Day of Obligation” which is considered one of the important feast days of the church calender year.
ROGATION SUNDAY TODAY Christ’s promise in the Gospel, that whatsoever we shall ask in His name His Father will give us, is appropriate for this Sunday, which is called Rogation Sunday. The three days following it are Rogation Days (from the Latin rogare, to ask or beseech). These were days set aside by the Church for prayer for the growing crops. Processions were led through the cornfields and litanies sung. All this was a Christianized version of an ancient pagan practice. It was adopted in England in the eighth century. Immediately following the 10:30 am Mass today, there will be a tree planted by the children of the parish at the east side of the building in commemoration of Rogation Sunday.

+Flowers on the Altar are given by Jill and Charlton Wood We employ the rich Ceremonial of the historic Church in our worship. While it may seem a bit strange or unnatural to you at first, be patient. The liturgical heritage of the Church WILL speak to you in time, as it has to Christians through the centuries. The PROPER POSTURE for worship is simply expressed. We sit to learn, (sermon, etc.) and stand to praise (singing & hearing the Gospel read). To pray, we either kneel or stand, but we do not sit unless we are enfeebled. For your convenience, a VISITOR’S ORDER FOR HOLY COMMUNION is available at the table near the entrance to the church, with the hope that it will help your understanding of our liturgical worship of Almighty God this day. However if you would rather use the prayer book, the service begins on Page 67.
Welcome to If you are a visitor with us just for today we bid you God speed on your journey. If you are seeking a church home we welcome you into our spiritual family so that you might make good on your Christian duty to “follow Christ, worship God every Sunday in His Church, to work and pray and give for the spread of His kingdom” (BCP, page 291). In either case, be sure to sign the guest book and introduce yourself to us upon the conclusion of the service. We are part of the Anglican Province of Christ the King–a nationwide body of traditional Episcopal churches which stands for historic Christianity in the Anglican tradition. OUR BELIEFS are based on the teaching of the Bible and the ancient creeds of the Church. We use the 1928 Book of Common Prayer as the basis for our worship. OUR MISSION is to worship God, serve Jesus Christ, and to bring mankind to Jesus and His Church by : (1) proclaiming biblical truth through Catholic order as it is embodied in the historic Book of Common Prayer; (2) preaching God’s Word and administrating His Holy Sacraments; (3) showing the love of Christ by reaching out to others through works of charity; and (4) upholding Christian family values and teaching the Christian faith and New Testament morality to our children. OUR GOALS are: to grow in understanding of and participation in the corporate worship services of the Church, to reach Holy Scripture daily and to love God and our neighbor more fully.
FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN
