BAPTISM TODAY

Today’s service is an all-important event in the lives of Heather and Scott. They will be baptized during the Mass today. They are the grandchildren of Lynn Wilson. Your prayers are welcomed and greatly appreciated.

FALL FESTIVAL PICNIC AND BARBECUE

Thanks to Bob and Carol Fabbri for their donation and preparation of the delicious parish picnic yesterday. Thanks also to all ACW members who worked hard to organize and run the events.

FR. GREER’S CLASS BEGINS TODAY

Father Greer begins his new class on Anglicanism 9:00-10:00 am today. The class is opened to anyone who is interested.

RELIGIOUS BOOKS AND ARTICLES ON SALE -OCTOBER 28

The ACW will offer religious books and other articles for sale on the patio after each mass on Sunday, October 28. The ACW is trying to locate a permanent display case for these articles. Until a display case is found, we will try to set up a table on the patio once each month.

ANGEL PARK PUTTING TOURNAMENT, MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

The third annual putting tournament is slated for Sunday, November 4th following the 10:30 am Mass. The Vestry will host an augmented lunch for everyone prior to driving to Angel Park to the tournament. The ticket price is $10.00 per person which is slightly more than the costs involved. In addition to the ticket price, the Vestry is hoping that participants will make a generous donation to help reduce the Development Fund Loan. A sign up sheet is located on the table at the back of the church. If you have questions, please see Mike McKeag or Martha Murray. Remember, you don’t need to be a golfer, just come and have fun. It is a great family event.

SPAGHETTI DINNER SOCIAL -WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH

The choir and AYG are co-hosting a Spaghetti Dinner on Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm, November 7th after Mass. If you are interested in attending, please sign the reservation sheet on the table at the back of the church. There is no established price for the dinner, please give whatever you wish to donate. Proceeds benefit the choir and AYG equally.

2008 ORDO KALENDARS HAVE ARRIVED

The Ordo Kalendars for next year are available. Please place your $5.00 donation in the container on the top of the bookshelves in the hallway.

What is the Ordo Kalendar and how does it differ from our regular calendars?

The Church begins its year the first Sunday in Advent, December 2nd . Over the centuries the Church Kalendar has evolved quite a bit. For example, in the 4th century the Western Church began its year on Christmas Day, while the Eastern Church still begins its Kalendar year on Easter Day.

The Church seasons are called tides, navigating the faithful through the entire life of our Blessed Lord. Just as the earth adorns itself with the colors of the four seasons, and as the sunlight lessens and strengthens during the course of the year, so the Church observes its seasons, symbolized by the changing of colors which clothe the Altar and Her Priests.

Observing the Kalendar, and the rich opportunity it provides in seasonal Masses, nourishes us on our earthly journey with our Lord. -Fr Hines+

Introit: Everything that thou hast brought upon us, O Lord God, thou hast done in righteousness and judgement: for we have trespassed against thee, and have not obeyed thy commandments; but give glory and honour to thy Name, and deal with us according to the multitude of thy tender mercies. Blessed are those that are undefiled in the way: and walk in the law of the Lord. Glory be . . . . and to the Holy Ghost. As it was . . . and ever shall be: world without end. Amen.

We employ the rich Ceremonial of the historic Church in our worship. While it may seem a bit strange or unnatural to you at first, be patient. The liturgical heritage of the Church WILL speak to you in time, as it has to Christians through the centuries.

Welcome to Saint George’s!

If you are a visitor with us just for today we bid you God speed on your journey. If you are seeking a church home we welcome you into our spiritual family so that you might make good on your Christian duty to “follow Christ, worship God every Sunday in His Church, to work and pray and give for the spread of His kingdom” (BCP, page 291). In either case, be sure to sign the guest book and introduce yourself to us upon the conclusion of the service.

We are part of the Anglican Province of Christ the King–a nationwide body of traditional Episcopal Churches which stands for historic Christianity in the Anglican tradition.

OUR BELIEFS are based on the teaching of the Bible and the ancient creeds of the Church. We use the 1928 Book of Common Prayer as the basis for our worship.

OUR MISSION is to worship God, serve Jesus Christ, and to bring mankind to Jesus and His Church by : (1) proclaiming biblical truth through Catholic order as it is embodied in the historic Book of Common Prayer; (2) preaching God’s Word and administrating His Holy Sacraments; (3) showing the love of Christ by reaching out to others through works of charity; and (4) upholding Christian family values and teaching the Christian faith and New Testament morality to our children.

OUR GOALS are: to grow in understanding of and participation in the corporate worship services of the Church, to read Holy Scripture daily and to love God and our neighbor more fully.

FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN are especially welcomed, as our Church School stands ready to equip you and your children for living the Christian life. Sunday school instruction and nursery are provided during the 10:30 am Sunday service.
