KEEPING A HEALTHY MIND, BODY AND SOUL

A special eight week depression recovery course is being offered at the church, 6:30-8:00 pm beginning Tuesday February 19th . The emphasis will be on how maintaining a healthy diet can greatly help in the treatment of depression. This course is open to all people, not just those fighting depression. Pastor Waggoner of Centennial Hills Church, who has been renting our building on Saturday mornings for seven years, will be teaching the course and parishioners from St. George are invited. Pastor Waggoner and his wife have taught this course to the public on a number of occasions with great success. They do this out of a love for people, offering tried methods for staying healthy and feeling more energized. An introductory presentation will be offered by Pastor Waggoner following our 10:30 Mass next Sunday on February 10th.

LENTEN RULE

Next Sunday, the first Sunday of Lent, everyone will be asked to offer up privately in a prayer a Lenten Rule they would like to keep during the forty days of Lent. The Sunday School students will write down their Lenten Rules and bring them into church during the offertory of the Mass. Father Hines will make a special Mass Intention that God help us in our resolve to keep our Lenten Rules for a Holy Lent. Whatever you decide to give up for Lent, be certain to replace it with something beneficial, adding to your spiritual growth. We employ the rich Ceremonial of the historic Church in our worship. While it may seem a bit strange or unnatural to you at first, be patient. The liturgical heritage of the Church WILL speak to you in time, as it has to Christians through the centuries.

Welcome to Saint George’s!

If you are a visitor with us just for today we bid you God speed on your journey. If you are seeking a church home we welcome you into our spiritual family so that you might make good on your Christian duty to “follow Christ, worship God every Sunday in His Church, to work and pray and give for the spread of His kingdom” (BCP, page 291). In either case, be sure to sign the guest book and introduce yourself to us upon the conclusion of the service.

We are part of the Anglican Province of Christ the King–a nationwide body of traditional Episcopal Churches which stands for historic Christianity in the Anglican tradition.

OUR BELIEFS are based on the teaching of the Bible and the ancient creeds of the Church. We use the 1928 Book of Common Prayer as the basis for our worship.

OUR MISSION is to worship God, serve Jesus Christ, and to bring mankind to Jesus and His Church by : (1) proclaiming biblical truth through Catholic order as it is embodied in the historic Book of Common Prayer; (2) preaching God’s Word and administrating His Holy Sacraments; (3) showing the love of Christ by reaching out to others through works of charity; and (4) upholding Christian family values and teaching the Christian faith and New Testament morality to our children.

OUR GOALS are: to grow in understanding of and participation in the corporate worship services of the Church, to read Holy Scripture daily and to love God and our neighbor more fully.

FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN are especially welcomed, as our Church School stands ready to equip you and your children for living the Christian life. Sunday school instruction and nursery are provided during the 10:30 am Sunday service.
