Soul Ascends to Heaven
by Ruth Lewis Heyder (Father Hines’ Aunt)

At the end of our life as one faithful to God, the angels bear our soul up to Heaven.  At the Last Day, multitudes of angels will accompany our Lord Jesus when He descends from Heaven with power and great glory to gather up the resurrected bodies of his saints.  The angels will be witnesses to the Judgement Day.  They will see our souls which had been in Heaven - to take up our glorified resurrected bodies, and they will help God in executing judgment upon His enemies.”

STEWARDSHIP SUNDAY TODAY

As Christians, we recognize God as the source of all creation, therefore the giver of all that we possess:  “All things come of Thee O Lord... (I Chron. 29:14)” When we give gifts of money to the work of His Church, we are giving back to God what is ultimately His: “...and of thine own have we given Thee. (I Chron. 29:14)” Our possessions are material things, but what we do with them is a spiritual matter.  The regular support of the ministry, through our weekly donations at Church, becomes a disciplined way of acknowledging who God is and what is His.  Practiced in the right way, our giving becomes a real way to thank God for the abundance of His blessings.  Pledge cards are distributed during the service today and need to be returned by Sunday, November 30th.  Please pray for the Stewardship of our Parish to improve.  Pray for our Vestry.  Pray for your priest.  And finally pray for God to give you a clear sense of direction in your own offering to Him through St. George’s.

DID YOU KNOW?

Life insurance has long been a part of estate planning in the United States.  Although life insurance does not need to be a part of every person’s estate plan, it can be useful, especially for parents of young children and those who support a spouse or a disabled adult or child.  In addition to helping to support dependents, life insurance can help provide immediate cash at death.  Insurance proceeds are a handy source of cash to pay the decease’s debts, funeral expenses, and income or estate taxes.  People who have no minor children or financially strapped dependents may not need life insurance.  If you decide to purchase insurance, you should know exactly why you are buying it and choose the best type of policy for your needs.  And, of course, you should buy no more than you need.

We employ the rich Cerremonial of the historic Church in our worship.  While it may seem a bit strange or unnatural to you at first, be patient.  The liturgical heritage of the Church WILL speak to you in time, as it has to Christians through the centuries.

Welcome to Saint George’s Parish
