St George's Anglican Church
A Traditional Episcopal 1928 Prayer Book Parish

“I invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.”

TIME OF RE-COMMITMENT

“All things come of Thee O Lord, and of thine own have we given Thee.” (I Chron. 29:14)

Last week we celebrated Stewardship Sunday and acknowledged with thanksgiving all of God’s gifts to us. For those of you who were not here or who have not yet made your commitment, pledge cards are available on the table in the back of the chapel. Please fill them out and place them in the offering plates. You may also mail them to the church address. They need to be turned in by Sunday, November 30th.

Please pray for the Stewardship of our Parish to improve. Pray for our Vestry. Pray for your priest. And finally pray for God to give you a clear sense of direction in your own offering to Him.

ACW MEETING - DECEMBER 6, 2008

The ACW will meet on Saturday, December 6th at 2:00 pm at the church. Please make every effort to attend this important meeting where a number of important issues need to be discuss and we will also finalize plans for the Bishop’s visit.

BISHOP’S VISITATION - DECEMBER 7, 2008

Bishop Frederick Morrison will visit St. George’s at the 10:30 am service on Sunday, December 7, 2008. The Bishop will baptize, confirm and welcome new parishioners to the parish. A reception will be held immediately following the service.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO BOB AND CAROL FABBRI

The Annual Fall Festival and Parish Picnic was a huge success. Many thanks to Bob and Carol Fabbri who prepared and donated all the delicious food. The ACW absorbed all other picnic related costs and, as a result, St. Anne’s Guild donated $1262.00 to help reduce our mortgage principle.

ROD EARHART IS RECOVERING AT HOME

During the next few weeks, Patty would appreciate men to help Rod get in and out of the car and assist Patty driving to radiation treatments and various medical appointments. If you would like to help, please speak to Father Hines or Vince Mills.

DID YOU KNOW?

Providing for your children in case you die prematurely takes more than picking someone to raise them. You should also consider what will happen to any money or property your children inherit from you. Who will manage it for them until they become adults? You can leave these instructions in your will or living trust. Many parents don’t leave money directly to their children. Instead, they leave everything to each other, with the understanding that the survivor will care for the children. They name their children as alternate beneficiaries. Many single parents leave property directly to their children. Either way, you should arrange for someone to manage whatever property they may inherit in case they receive it while they are still too young to manage it themselves. You can take care of this in your will or living trust.

We employ the rich Ceremonial of the historic Church in our worship. While it may seem a bit strange or unnatural to you at first, be patient. The liturgical heritage of the Church WILL speak to you in time, as it has to Christians through the centuries.
