WELCOME BISHOP
MORRISON!!!
We are pleased to have our Diocesan bishop,
Bishop Frederick Morrison, here with us today. We worship together with him
which demonstrates our unity in the Body of Christ. This is also an expression
of our mission to “proclaim God’s truth through Catholic order as it is
embodied in the historic Book of Common Prayer.” Not only will he celebrate and
preach this morning, but he will fulfill his apostolic office of administering
the sacrament of Confirmation. Rachel Angeline Jost
of St. George’s
will be baptized and confirmed; V. Kay Recher and
Angela Gaye Newton of Holy Trinity Mission will be confirmed. The Bishop will
also welcome new members into our parish family. A light reception will follow
the 10:30 am Mass in celebration of these new members and of the newly baptized
and confirmed.
During the closing hymn, Bishop Morrison will
give his blessing to those in attendance as he recesses down the isle. It is
our church’s tradition to make a sign of the cross, bow or genuflect when he
gives his blessing.

DID YOU KNOW?
In Nevada,
if you die without a will, your property will be distributed according to state
“intestacy”laws. Nevada’s intestacy law gives your property
to your closest relatives, beginning with your spouse and children. If you have
neither a spouse nor children, your grandchildren or your parents will get your
property. This list continues with increasingly distant relatives, including
siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, and your spouse’s relatives.
If the court exhausts this list to find that you have no living relatives by
blood or marriage, the state will take your property.
TEACHING THE
FAITH - “OUR TRUE HOME”
The Church, traditionally, has guided us
during this season of Advent to think about the four last things: Death, Judgement, Heaven, and Hell. Especially when we look at
death, but at the others as well, we become conscious of the many partings in
this life and how difficult each one can be. In the early days of the Church it
must have been much, much harder, for when someone left on a journey, it was
likely to last for several years or, more often, for life’s duration.
How does God make these times fo parting, by death or by
physical or psychological separation, easier for us? He constantly reminds us
that it is only He who is always with us, but at the same time he has made us
all one in Him. We need to always remember and give thanks for our Baptism,
which has made us a member of the Body of Christ. We can therefore remember
also that this is not our true home; we are in the world but not of the world.
We will know a fuller oneness with God and all His loving children in His Holy
Kingdom.

We employ the rich ceremonial of the historic
Church in our worship. While it may seem a bit strange or unnatural to you at first,
be patient. The liturgical heritage of the Church WILL speak to you in time, as it has to
Christians through the centuries.
Welcome to Saint George’s Parish
In the Name of God the Father who created us and sustains the
world in which we live, God the Son who died for us and rose again to save us from
a life of sin and death, and God the Holy Ghost who inhabits and guides our
sacramental and prayerful worship of Him, the One and Triune God.
