WE NEED COFFEE
HOUR VOLUNTEERS
At present, we need volunteers for January 18
and 25 plus numerous openings in February and during the Spring
months. The Coffee Hour host/hostess provides simple fare and cleans up the
kitchen afterwards. The ushers assist by setting up the tables and making the
coffee as well as storing the tables and helping clean up afterwards. Coffee
hour is an important time to make newcomers feel welcome and for all of us to
get to know each other. Please consider volunteering to provide coffee hour
goodies.
CHURCH ORDO KALENDAR
Happy New Year! The Church’s new year began on the first Sunday in Advent, November 30th.
Over the centuries the Church Kalendar has evolved quite a bit. For example, in
the 4th century the Western
Church began its year on
Christmas Day, while the Eastern Church still begins its Kalendar year on
Easter Day. Is the word Kalendar misspelled here? No, the “K” distinguishes the
Church liturgical Kalendar from the secular calendar. The Church seasons are
called tides, navigating the faithful through the entire life of our Blessed
Lord. Just as the earth adorns itself with the colors of the four season, and as the sunlight lessens and strengthens during
the course of the year, so the Church observes its seasons, symbolized by the
changing of colors which clothe the Altar and Her Priests. 2009 Kalendars are available on the table at the back of the
chapel. A donation of $5.00 is requested.
