TODAY’S INSTRUCTION ON THE FAITH: What is the Sacred Triduum?

ALTAR OF REPOSE – THURSDAY, APRIL 13, 2017
“Can you not pray with me one hour?” This was our Lord’s plea to his disciples on the night of His betrayal and pending His crucifixion on Good Friday. Our Lord poses this question to us as well. May we assent to our Lord’s cry for us to pray with Him. Like Simon of Cyrene who bore our Lord’s cross on our Lord’s march to Calvary, what for Simon had begun as a compulsory task became a delight and joy. Please come and spend an hour before the Altar of Repose in silence and in quiet reflection spending time with Our Lord. In that time with Him, you will receive His peace which passes all understanding in the midst of your own trials.

A sign-up sheet is available on the table at the back of the church for those who wish to pray at the Altar of Repose. There is no limit to the number of those who can pray during the assigned hours from 8:00 p.m. – Midnight.

Please read Chapters 7 and 8 before that date. Spiritual reading, whether from treasures of the faith like this one, or from sacred Scripture, is a way of placing yourself in God’s presence to be spoken to, and to be strengthened and encouraged in following Christ. Whether you can come on Wednesdays or not, we invite you to join us in reading. If you need a book, please sign-up on the patio and we will place and order for receipt in time for the first class.
