Bulletin Announcements for August 3, 2014 – Trinity VII

WELCOME BACK FROM VACATION, FATHER HINES!

TEEN BIBLE STUDY MEETS IN FATHER HINES’ OFFICE TODAY

THE STUDY OF C. S. LEWIS’ THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA” CONTINUES EVERY OTHER WEDNESDAY EVENING – THE NEXT MEETING IS WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13, 7:00-8:00 PM AT THE CHURCH.
At the next meeting the group will discuss C. S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.  You are encouraged to join this casual discussion group even if you have not attended before.  For more information, please speak with Kathy Ruud.

ELEVATE PROGRAM WORKSHOP THIS WEEK
This three-day sewing workshop for Molasky public middle school students was an enormous success. They learned the basics of using patterns and sewing machines. It was a good way for members of St. George’s and school students to stay connected and garner enthusiastic support for the church’s fall Elevate program.  Many thanks to Becky Heerema and Amanda Plehn who coordinated and taught the students!

SUMMER MOVIE NIGHT
The last movie night of the summer will be Saturday evening, August 16, at 6:00 pm, at St. George’s.  The movie is free and popcorn, drinks, and candy are served.   A small donation for food is appreciated.

FLOWERS AT THE ALTAR ARE A BEAUTIFUL WAY TO REMEMBER SOMEONE OR CELEBRATE AN OCCASION
The flower sign-up chart is located on the whiteboard in the back hall.  You select a date and let us know if you are remembering a loved one, celebrating an occasion such as a birthday or anniversary, or simply celebrating the glory of God.   There is an envelope next to the chart for your flower donation.  Please put checks only in the envelope.  If you prefer to pay with cash, please give the cash to Martha Tracey or Patty Earhart or place it in a church envelope in the offering plate.  (Mark your name on the offering envelope and clearly indicate:  “Altar Flowers”.)     The total cost of two bouquets for the Altar is $40.00 (unless two people agree to share the same date, and split the cost.)  If you wish to order roses, please donate $60.00 for two vases of flowers.  You are welcome to take the flowers home with you after 10:30 am Mass.  Our florist is happy to accommodate your color preference (depending on floral availability).

WE ALWAYS NEED HELP WITH PICK UP AND DELIVERY OF FLOWERS
St. George’s Church orders our beautiful flowers from Smith’s Grocery located at Lake Mead and Rampart.  The vases are dropped off at Smith’s during the week.  A member of St George picks up the flowers before 8:00 am Mass.  If you attend 8:00 am Mass and would like to help by picking up before Mass, your help would be very much appreciated.  If you attend 10:30 am Mass and you have time during the week your help with drop off of the vases at the store, helps equally.  Please speak with Patty Earhart if you can help.  The more people who volunteer, the less often each of us runs this errand.  We hope many of you will consider this very important stewardship.  The reason we are able to have such beautiful flowers for such low prices is because we don’t pay delivery costs and we don’t have to assign someone to be at the church on Saturday afternoon to meet a delivery truck.

THANKS TO ALL WHO SIGNED UP AS COFFEE HOUR VOLUNTEERS
Since some of you who signed-up have never done coffee hour before, please speak with Jonilynn Katchuk, Patty Earhart or Martha Tracey if you have questions or need assistance.  The coffee hour is one of the best ways to get to know visitors and each other.  Thanks again for your ministry.
