LARRY DAVIS OF PALM MORTUARY TO SPEAK TODAY: SUNDAY, MAY 17 – AFTER THE 10:30 AM SERVICE
Larry Davis, General Manager of Palm Downtown Mortuary and Cemetery will discuss the importance of pre-planning funerals.  With his many years of experience at Palm Mortuary, Larry sees all too often how few people plan prior to their death.  This lack of attention to pre-planning creates emotional and financial stress on their loved ones at a time when they need precious time to grieve.

WELCOME DR. DOROTHY RIESS, GUEST ORGANIST
Please welcome St. George’s dear friend, Dorothy Riess, as organist today and next Sunday.  She will be playing for us while Ron Richardson is on vacation.  Please welcome her at coffee hour.

WOULD YOUR CHILDREN ENJOY LEARNING TO PLAY HANDBELLS?
We all enjoyed listening to the Summerlin Ringers on Easter I.  Joann Plog has offered to instruct a class learning to play the chimes.  She suggests the children’s age range be grades 4-6 and she hopes for a class size of 7-10 students.  For more information, Joann will be available on Sunday, June 14 on the patio after the 10:30 am Mass.  Classes would be held in the Fall between Masses. A sign-up sheet is available on the patio for those who are interested.

KEEPING THINGS FESTIVE THROUGH WHITSUNDAY (PENTECOST)
From Easter Day to Whitsunday is perhaps the most glorious fifty days of the Church Kalendar year.  For forty days following our Lord’s Resurrection, He walked the earth and appeared unto His disciples and to numerous others.  As Our Lord promised His disciples, on the fortieth day He ascended into Heaven and told them to wait for the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, who descended on the disciples ten days later (Whitsunday or Pentecost, Sunday, May 24).  To distinguish these most momentous and joy-filled days in the history of mankind, the Church will adorn Herself with all the beauty She is capable of, and this will be expressed in its Masses, in its music and in its priestly vestments.
