Bulletin Announcements for Trinity 14, August 28, 2016

FATHER HINES ON VACATION AUGUST 25 THROUGH 29. WE WILL CELEBRATE MORNING PRAYER TODAY. THERE WILL BE EVENING PRAYER AND MASS NEXT WEDNESDAY 31.

Father will be in the office next Tuesday, August 30. Until then, if you have an emergency please, call Dale Foust, Sr. Warden at 702-361-6218.

THE PSALMS ARE SUNG ANTIPHONALLY
During the Service of Morning Prayer, we recite the Psalms antiphonally: Psalm 19 (pages 363-364) and Psalm 24 (pages 365-369). The first verse of each Psalm is recited by those on the Gospel (east) side of the church. The second verse is recited by those on the Epistle (west) side of the church and continue thoughout the Psalm.

Many thanks to John Pelham, Rick Cummings and Mike McKeag for participating in the Service of Morning Prayer today.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES WILL NOT MEET TODAY. HOWEVER, NURSERY IS AVAILABLE FOR CHILDREN 0-2 YEARS OLD.

ACOLYTE TRAINING
Acolyte training will begin Sunday, September 11 between 8:00 and 10:30 services. We need both young men and adults to strengthen the current core of acolytes that serve St. George’s on Sundays and Wednesdays. All novices need to be confirmed before actually serving at the altar. The training consists of approximately 6-8 weeks of study followed by 3 months of hands-on and 2-3 months of assisting at the altar under the tutelage of the acolyte trainer (Rick Cummings) or acolyte warden (John Pelham). All parishioners are welcome to attend the first part of the training to better understand why we do the things we do. Y’all come.”

DISCUSSION GROUP BEGINS WEDNESDAY, SEPT 14, 2016
Beginning Wednesday, 9/14/16, a new group discussion will be offered on the book: The Elements of the Spiritual Life by Anglican author Frederic Harton. It is an inspiring handbook on the Christian life, guiding the reader to a deepened faith and practice; “For growth beyond formal religion, one must get right ideas about God and must know how He may be known and approached, loved and adored. Our strongest motive in pressing forward must be desire for God Himself, and secondary only to this a humble longing to promote His glory and serve His kingdom.” Books are $9 and will be on hand at church beginning September 4th. Sign-up Sheet is located on the patio. The discussions will be led by Kathy Ruud and Fr. Hines.
