EIGHTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY, JULY 22, 2018, A.D.

THE BIBLE SAFARI MEETS TODAY, JULY 22, 2018, 9:25 AM—10:15 AM
In Bible Safari, we are continuing our journey through the Book of Hebrews.

The occasion which gave rise to the writing of this book was the danger brought about by the persecution of the early church. Persecution at this point was severe and many of the recipients of this writing were Jewish Christians who, out of great fear, were in danger of abandoning their faith and reverting into Judaism. The writer exhorts them to hold fast to their confession of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

The writer takes the readers back through the whole of the history of the Hebrew people – all the way back to their earliest and most famous ancestors, Abraham and Moses. As they thought very highly of their ancestors, and possessed a strong sense of tradition, this was a powerful argument for the greatness of Jesus – the Messiah toward whom all of their ancestors had been pointing. In all respects, Christ is superior to the prophets, to angels, to Abraham, to Moses, and to Joshua. His covenant is superior; His sacrifice and His promises are superior. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

If you are not already taking part in Bible Safari, please consider joining us. We meet from 9:25 to 10:15 (between the Masses) every Sunday.

ACW MEETING, NEXT SATURDAY, JULY 28, 1:00 PM

SUNDAY SCHOOL CHILDREN’S ENCOUNTER WITH CHRIST IN THE MASS—SUNDAY, JULY 29
During this summer, there are two more Sundays set aside for children in our Sunday school to encounter Christ in the Mass, to experience the Lord in the beauty of Holiness.  On these Sundays, please make an additional effort to make our children feel welcome as we worship as one parish family.  To facilitate this, there will be no Sunday school class or nursery on Sundays July 29 and August 26.  Please pray for God to touch the hearts of our children with His awe, majesty and love during these special times of worship!

Everyone may bring a dish of their own choosing for a time of fellowship, sharing, and encouragement.  You may also bring a friend who has lost a loved one, if they are interested.

WOMEN’S SUMMER BIBLE STUDY, THURSDAYS,  1:00-2:00 PM,

All women are welcome and we ask that you bring a favorite Bible, a notebook (such as a school composition book) in which to write, and a bottle of water. Please let Father Hines, Aurore, or Julie know if you are coming. Come and enjoy this wonderful study!
