Moody Bible Institute Men’s Choir Performs March 10

Moody Men’s Collegiate Choir will present a concert of sacred music at St George’s on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 6:00 pm.

The Moody Men’s Collegiate Choir presents a carefully designed program of the best in sacred music, representing a variety of styles.  With ministry in mind, the choir and its leadership are very committed to striving for musical excellence in each performance with the goal of encouraging believers and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Founded in 1957, the Men’s Collegiate Choir is comprised of students from the undergraduate division of the Institute, and tours in the continental United States twice each year ministering in various churches.  Extended summer tours have included Alaska, Hawaii, the Atlantic Provinces of Canada, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France, Australia and New Zealand. Recent international tours were to China (2009) and Greece & Cyprus (2011).    

The men’s repertoire includes classical selections, traditional hymn arrangements, and contemporary gospel music. Various recordings representing the Men’s Collegiate Choir are available for your purchase.

H.E. Singley, conductor, is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and holds a Bachelor of Music degree from American Conservatory of Music, a Master of Music degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Music, and the D.M.A. in church music with organ performance concentration from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Singley has served as a missionary to Latin America from 1973 with Impact International, Inc., and served for a total of 10 years with missionary radio station HCJB in Ecuador. He was a musical guest in the associate evangelist ministries of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association from 1972 to 1997 and has served several churches as pastor of worship and music.  Dr. Singley was appointed to the faculty of Moody Bible Institute in 1996 and teaches church music courses and private lessons, and coordinates the combined ministries of the touring ensembles in addition to his responsibilities with the Moody Men’s Collegiate Choir.  He serves College Church in Wheaton as organist and choir accompanist and is a member of the American Choral Directors’ Association, the Hymn Society of America and the American Guild of Organists.

The Moody Bible Institute, founded in 1886 by evangelist D.L. Moody, is a non-denominational undergraduate and graduate level institution that educates and trains men and women for Christian service.  It is an accredited member of the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), and the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (NCA).  The Music Department has been an integral part of the Institute’s curriculum since its founding.  In addition to the Men’s Collegiate Choir, Moody has three other touring ensembles: the Chorale, the Women’s Concert Choir and Handbell Ensemble, and the Symphonic Band.

There is no admission charge; however, an offering will be taken up to pay for a portion of the the young men’s travel expenses.
