About Kathy Ruud:

A friend of the parish, Kathy Ruud, is a long time resident of Las Vegas. Married for 29 years, she has three grown children and two grandsons.  Drawn into a more contemplative expression of faith in the last few years, she is eager to introduce this form of lectio divina prayer to others.  She is a recent graduate of the Institute for Spiritual Direction at Stillpoint.

This prayer practice is a combination of journaling, lectio divina (sacred

reading), and contemplation.  We take a few minutes to journal about what is happening in our lives at the present moment, and then we come to God, asking Him to speak from His Word into that place, whether it’s a place of sadness, joy, doubt, anticipation or whatever it happens to be.

Some time is taken in the process to be still before God as we seek to hear Him speak to us. This practice provides a place where we can be transformed as we encounter God.  The evening will conclude with a beautiful service of Compline.
