Here’s a heartfelt summary of last year’s Parish Picnic from Marva and Howard Woodward:

What a pleasant day it was for a picnic. The weather, food, and fellowship could not have been better. It was kind of like a big family picnic, only, without the bickering. As new members of St. George’s, get togethers such as this give us the opportunity to meet other members and get better acquainted with some of those we’ve already met. The Lone Mountain Park was an excellent venue. It offered a great sheltered area to gather for visiting and eating all the fabulous food.  In addition, there was plenty of fun things to keep our smallest and youngest parish members occupied and happy.  We truly enjoyed the fellowship the day brought us. All in the name of the Lord.

We moved to the Las Vegas area the first of April, and began attending St. George’s shortly thereafter. We immediately felt like we had found our new church home. The rector, Fr. Hines, and the ushers who greeted us  made us feel so welcome, the beautiful music provided by Thom Greathouse and the choir, even the coffee on the patio after the Mass all combined to make our first experience at St. George’s the type of religious experience we were looking for. For a small parish, we can not believe the talent of “our” fellow parishioners. We feel truly blessed and look forward to more opportunities to meet and become better acquainted with our church family.

We invite all our parish family, especially new members, as this event will surely supply lifetime memories of good friends, food and fun.  Please consider contributing a cake to the Cake Walk (something kids like) and don’t forget to take lots of pictures.
